Head End System (HES)

The HES is a hardware/software framework. The main objective of HES is to acquire meter data automatically on a periodic basis. The data can be acquired through inbound and outbound mode.  The HES is unified and can work with meters having cellular and/or RF communication. It can also process the data captured locally by MRI/Mobile Application etc. This unified HES caters for both consumer meters and system meters.

Major Functionalities

The unified Head End System (HES) is part of the deployed secured IPv6 network established for communication with meters directly (in case of cellular) or through gateway (for Genus RF mesh).

Genus HES is a complete ecosystem purposefully orchestrated for optimal performance of each component. These components are of structural and auxiliary types as listed below,

 

Communication Infrastructure deployed for meter communication

• Meter Data acquisition system.
• Cloud enabled application having web interface for monitoring and controlling of metering devices through intuitive and interactive web GUI.
• Security systems; hardware and software.
• Database systems. Posgrase and/or MSSQL as per deployment requirement

Genus HES provides a comprehensive suite for controlling the Meter Data Acquisition System (MDAS), analyzing the data captured by MDAS, and providing data exchange interface for MDMS.

The key functionalities of Genus Unified HES are,

• Acquire data from different make of meters
• HES server communicates with the communication module plugged with meter at to capture the data pushed by meters at predefined interval or On Demand Read (ODR) jobs.
• The system can provide the details of critical events, e.g. no communication failure, meter power failure etc.
• The system acquires real time instantaneous data like current, voltage, power factor, reactive power, frequency, active power and at specified regular intervals for online monitoring.
